Summer Classes


Descriptions

Teachers are the only qualified people who can accurately determine what level you or your child can be placed. Age and years of experience factor into what classes you or your child are placed, but that is only a part of the guideline. Maturity, respect for self and others, and the ability to learn at a rapid rate are carefully examined.

 

**General Classes require a 5 student minimum to hold the class. Baby/Toddler w/Caregiver class requires 5 pairs of students (child + adult) minimum to hold the class.

Intensives & Workshops: Intensives are 3 hour class blocks designed for intense practice, technique, skill instruction and targeted instruction for ages 10 and up with dance experience. These classes run from 2:00-5:00 Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with a break for rest and a snack in the middle (please provide your own snack and water bottle). We offer weeks of all one style (such as ballet & pointe), for all three days, 2:00-5:00 each day; and Dance Survey Weeks, which have a different style each day from 2:00-5:00. Fitness: Our fitness classes are appropriate for teens and adults. Exercise at your own risk; be sure to receive a physician’s clearance before participating in any physical activity.

Parent Enrichment: Our Pre-Dance Mix and Ballet 1 classes all have corresponding times noted as “Parent Enrichment,” or with assigned classes. These times are designed for parents and caregivers of little dancers to engage in a class of their own! These range from fitness classes to specialized dance classes. Where “Parent Enrichment – TBA” falls on the schedule, a class is being arranged at this time. We will add to the schedule when those classes are finalized! 

**Parent Enrichment classes require a 5 student minimum to hold the class. Enrichment classes are not limited to parents & caregivers only – anyone may join!

 

Babies & Toddlers: Adult caregiver must be present for a fun, joint class exploring music & movement:  infant to 3 years old. One child/adult pair = 1 student

PreDance Mix:  Explore movement, rhythm and basic steps and dance knowledge. This is the building block for many styles of dance and is strongly recommended for all budding dancers! For 3-6 years with no dance experience

Ballet 1 & Buddy:  For 6 and Up or approval by instructor; PreDance Mix experience preferred. Bring your favorite buddy (doll or stuffed animal) and spend 1/2 the class dancing with your buddy, 1/2 of the class with your buddy watching you safely from the sidelines! Please no oversized stuffed animals. All buddy activity must be appropriate or the buddy will have to watch for the whole class!

Summer Kids Ballet & Pointe:  For children with 1 year of ballet experience up to 12 years of age; Pointe will be rotated into the class for students with teacher approval.

Teen/Adult Int/Adv Ballet:  For 12 and older with ballet experience; Pointe will be rotated into the class for students with teacher approval.

Adult Learn to Dance:  A general dance survey of steps from different styles for adults with little to no dance experience. (Beginning ballet, jazz, modern, tap for adults will be under this category). A safe and enlightening place to explore the fun of dance – great for those adults convinced they have two left feet!

Kids Summer Modern & Contemporary:  For children 8 to 12 with dance experience

Teen/Adult Modern & Contemporary:  For 12 and older with dance experience

Summer Tap:  For children 6 and older with PreDance mix experience, and adults with tap experience; multi-level class.

Summer Irish:  For children 6 and older with dance experience and teacher approval; teens and adults with dance experience; multi-level class.

Clogging: For children 6 and older with dance experience, tap experience not required; teens and adults with dance experience preferred but not required

Kids Summer Hip Hop:  For children 6 – 12 with PreDance mix experience

Teen/Adult Hip Hop:  For 12 and older with dance experience preferred, but not required

Kids Summer Jazz: For 6 – 12 with PreDance mix experience

Teen/Adult Jazz:  For 12 and older with dance experience

Line Dancing & Swing:  Country, Big Band, Disco, European and more fun line dances and group dances; partner dances will be a portion of the class, worked throughout the series. For 12 through adult with no dance experience required

Belly Dancing:  Two times to choose from, corresponding with a Pre-Dance Mix and a Ballet 1 class so parents can enjoy a class themselves! Multi-level class, beginners welcome. A great ab workout!

Latin Dancing:  Learn elements of a variety of Latin dances – paired with a PreDance Mix class in case you have a little one that can go in a class! No dance experience required. Couples welcome, for teens and adults.
